Another significant dimension of WUT's knowledge transfer strategy involves providing scientific evidence for public policy formulation, considering that a precise and objective synthesis of available scientific evidence represents the most valuable contribution of the research community to decision-makers in democratic systems. Being a comprehensive University that encompasses both STEAM domains, as well as Social Sciences & Humanities, Culture & Creativity and other associated topics, WUT is the first Romanian University to host a macro-level Living Lab, acknowledged by the European Network of Living Labs starting January 2022. Focusing on meaningful transformation projects that contribute to enhanced community well-being, the UVT Digital & Green Living Lab makes use of digital and green tools for transformation projects, benefitting from the education and research of human capital & infrastructure.
The CitizenScienceVest platform was developed through the project "Center for Counseling and Guidance in the Career of Researcher – West Region", funded by the National Recovery and Resilience Plan, Component 9. Support to private sector, research, development and innovation, Investment I10. "Establishment and financial support of a national network of eight regional career guidance centres as part of the ERA TALENT PLATFORM". The platform responds to the objective of the project on promoting research results among young people and local communities in the Western region of Romania, to illustrate the importance of research in the economic development of the community. The platform is not only an excellent vehicle for carrying out citizen science projects, but also a means of informing/communicating/quickly polling public opinion on topics of major societal interest. It is dedicated to open science, which aims to bring research closer to the community. Through the direct involvement of citizens, the platform facilitates the collection of valuable data for research projects and provides opportunities for education and awareness of current environmental and sustainability issues, in the context of the objective of increasing the quality of life by integrating the principles of the twin transitions (green and digital).
